Premier League 'a priority' says Smart

By Jon Smart - Saturday, April 4, 2020 - 12:15:17 PM

In contrast to Celtic manager Kevin Becks news report,Rennes manager Jon Smart says the Premier league is his teams priority. An ever increasing unlikely scenario but after a disastrous season in the cups it's the league that holds the slim chance of any silverware this season.Teams need around 19,20 or 21 league wins to lift the trophy and new Dad Jamie Best looks right on track with 16 wins from 21 games. He'll be feeling the pressure no doubt with Karlsruher sitting 2nd,Rennes 3rd and Celtic 4th,with West Ham and OL still pushing.Like the teams around us,we have drew too many games which ultimately has left us short in our challenge for the title.Without giving up,we are pretty much getting used to the idea of not retaining the trophy we waited so long for. After an exceptional title challenge last season we were in a similar position as Boca are now,and until it's mathematically possible that you can't lose top spot you still feel vulnerable to any challenge and we did wobble towards the end of last season although we were 14 points clear when the title was won and finished 9 clear at the end.Boca have re-joined the league in a similar way to how we did, although we finished runner-up in our first season back and Boca are looking at the title.Rennes wish Boca and all the teams involved in the cups good luck and look forward to an interesting last third of the season.

In other news Rennes released a statement about how they will celebrate Jon Smarts 4000th club game in charge.Currently on 3950 club games and 4700 career games he will hit the 4000 game total next season with talks of £100 Amazon gift voucher and/or free cinema tickets, another idea proposed by the ITNFA to mark the occasion was for whoever wins the Premier league to just hand over the title and cup to Jon Smart and Rennes, this is yet to be confirmed.
