Strasbourg Website Announcement

By Jafafa Azaz - Sunday, November 10, 2019 - 12:11:47 PM

Strasbourg fans are said to have mixed emotions at the recent announcement on the club website of impending departures and incomings for the new season, with several big names moving in both directions. The website article is summarised below:

Outgoings:

- Dani Buades, who was on loan at Falkirk, has made his permanent switch to the Scottish club today concluding the Ivo Sanchez deal
- Under 25 striker Raman Matveev, has completed his transfer to Metz today, concluding the previously agreed swap deal with the French club
- Sam Lund has today departed on loan to Nurnberg for 5 weeks, with his move being made permanent on the 15h December for £40m
- Gregory Bonhotal, a recent purchase from Ajax, and first team midfielder Chen Bin Haniff will both move on to pastures new in a combined £50m deal with Karlsruher over the coming weeks
- Reserve players Fensby, Guan-Heng, Yasuda and Langford will all complete permanent transfers in the coming weeks to their respective new clubs (Bochum, Ajax and Kashima) following deals agreed.

Incomings:

- Carlos Griva and Dhurjatiprasad Yuhanna have settled in well since their respective signings last week
- Nofuente and Cunha, two under 25 defenders have now joined from Metz
- Rey Oloo, a 23 41 LM has joined today completing the Metz swap deal
- Top Ajax players el-Youssoufi (24 52) and Di Pietro (21 39 LM) will join in the coming weeks for a combined cash fee of £45m plus Guan-Heng

Azaz had this to say: "Fans will undoubtedly be disappointed and maybe slightly concerned by the departure of Sam Lund, probably our best and most experienced defender however the cash offer was too good to turn down and I am more than happy with the pool of talent we will have going forward in this area of the pitch, with Talebloo really stepping up, el-Youssoufi joining and Mustafa only getting better with age. Alexander has a season left with us and the other younger signings give us options too."

Azaz continued: "As for the other areas of the pitch, I'm delighted to have Griva and Yuhanna as options up top, they have added some much needed firepower and it makes the departure of Bonhotal easier to bear as talented as he is. My only real concern I guess is whether we have enough strength in depth in the middle of the park going forward. Aldridge is going nowhere I can promise fans (and Macca) that as he's our best midfielder by a country mile, Rutzel has developed well since joining and Eremin understands he needs to do better at this level. We will have a good pot of cash after all deals are completed which we will use if we feel it is necessary".

Whilst Azaz may have slightly reassured some fans, not all are as impressed by the balance of these transfers. And it doesn't help that rumours are spreading that Mustafa may be the next big name departure to leave the club...
