£250m Khuboni Bid

By Kevin Beck - Thursday, October 31, 2019 - 11:10:06 AM

It came to light this morning that Celtic received a gigantic offer for star striker, Edward Khuboni, believed to be £250m.

The club who made the bid is unknown and the Hoops boss wasn't willing to reveal the identity of the club. However, Kevin Beck has confirmed that the Celtic hierarchy met at Celtic Park late last night to discuss the offer and make a decision.

"Yes, it's true we received the rumoured offer for Edward yesterday. The club's Chairman, Directors, and I met last night to discuss the offer; which was actually two offers from the same club - all cash or £175m and a top AM.

Obviously, such an offer required serious consideration, but everyone in the boardroom voted unanimously to reject the deal and keep Khuboni at the club.

As terrific as the offers on the table were, we believe keeping our own star players here is key to the success of the football club. Players of the quality of Khuboni are very rare indeed, and in the end we would rather have that quality on the pitch ahead of money in the bank."

However, Sky Football Correspondent, Steven McCarthy, believes Celtic should have taken the offer.

"That amount of money - and the potential to have a replacement striker in the deal - could have taken Celtic to another level. Yes, Khuboni is probably irreplaceable at the moment, but the deal could have made the Celtic team stronger as a whole. There are strikers out there who could keep the goals flowing and they would cost a fraction of the Khuboni offer. Of course, it would be a gamble trying to fill his boots, but it's one I would have taken."
