Fulham follow up cup success with great escape

Fulham completed a memorable week by confirming their status in A2 with a win over managerless Sampdoria. This follows on from Wednesday’s A level cup success over Vitesse in a run which saw them beat A2 leaders Boca Juniors in the semi final.

It really is miraculous to think that at the half way stage of the season, Fulham seemed dead and buried with some 15 points to make up and yet, miracles do happen.

“ the turning point was a few of the older lads retiring with the younger lads coming in to replace them really stepping up to the plate” Said manager John Peterson

Many pundits point to the sale of Venelin Kashukeev to Lille which included Egan and Barton as part of the deal, they certainly made a difference.

“Yes they made a huge difference, but we also signed Osmic and Marakev around that time who also contributed, and the young lads, Wulff, Efanov, Derenvin, Pennison.. they’ve given their all”

Confirmation of league status, A league cup, following last seasons promotion and B level cup, and now with a settled squad, Peterson will be hoping for a promotion push next season for the former premier league club.
